"All scream for ice cream"

This image shows ice cream melting on a hot day on the railing of my porch. I took this image on a nearly 100 degree day, where the sun was beating down on my porch. So, I took a scoop of ice cream and put it on the porch. I then waited about five minutes for it to melt to a point where you could really tell it had melted and took the picture. I printed it with a transparency in the darkroom.

This image uses rule of thirds, selective focus, and leading lines. Originally, I wanted the image to show the harsh sun and maybe a lens flare, but I couldn't get an angle on the sun where you could see the ice cream in a classic melt.

The image is supposed to show the warm weather through a classic staple of a hot day: a melting ice cream. You're supposed to feel almost exhausted looking at the drooping and melting ice cream and sense how hot the temperature is. If I were to redo this project, I would have liked to have the ice cream on a cone.
