Extreme Perspectives

AnT's EYE

BIRD'S EYE

For this assignment, I took a walk around the local harbor with Griffin at low tide. This is mostly where I took my angle down photos since there were so many places I could photograph from above. For the remaining bird's eye photos, I climbed on my garage roof and just took pictures of Griffin as he did what he wanted to. For the ant's eye view angle up photos I essentially crawled around my house looking for things that looked grander from the low angle. I also found items at the harbor that I thought would make for an interesting photo from a low angle. Obviously, the bird's eye photos incorporate angle down and the ant's eye ones incorporate angle up. There is also elements such as formal balance in photos like the one of Griffin on the ladder over the water and the ant's eye view of the street lamp. All of the photos have a sharp focus, and most of them use natural lighting. I ended up taking about 150 photos, so narrowing them down to twelve was the biggest evolution of the project. The idea behind them is "what if an ant walked around my house?" and "what if a bird followed Griffin around for an afternoon?". The environment of these photos are all places and things I'm familiar with, so seeing them from a brand new perspective was very interesting. If I were to revise elements, I would have liked to be further above Griffin when he is sitting above the water on the beam, as it would have shown the extreme perspective much better.
