Cloning and Overlays

Final Image

I went out and took some images that showed the nature of a beautiful fall afternoon. The first one I took of my dog, who, coincidentally, needed to go outside while I took these photographs. I took the image with the intent of having something in it that I didn't want: in this case, the smokestack. I did this so that when I went to edit, I could use the clone stamp to remove it. I used portions of the sky above the stack to cover it, essentially removing it from the photo. To give it more of a fall-type feeling, I used Photoshop's color tools to give it more color and saturation and match the tone of my dog's fur. For my second image, the overlaid one, I took an image of my car which had the fall trees reflecting nicely on it. By taking another picture of similar trees, the two images would blend together well when I edited it. I put the image of the car (with the Chevy logo cut out) on top of the tree image. I then decreased the opacity of the top layer to create the overlay effect. The image focuses on neither the car nor the trees primarily because of the overlay, giving it the fall-feel I was looking for.
