ARTIST STATEMENT

The photos in my quarter one portfolio show my growth over the quarter, as it is comprised mostly of images that have either been taken or edited recently, toward the end of the quarter. Some of the images were the rare ones where I was very proud of both the images' interest factor and how it followed the composition rules, as with the few soldier images in the portfolio. I think these are all fully representative of my work this quarter because all of the images were created not by simply snapping a photo but working at getting just the right setup, and subsequently editing them to the best of my ability to not only complete the assignment but make it a good photo. I've learned how to take interesting photos with the tools I already had, and gained new skills like photoshop, which made images like that of the four dogs all the more better. This quarter has helped me develop new skills and find what I am capable of using visual imagery. That is something I will certainly put to good use in the future.

My goals in the next quarter are to broaden my skill set even further by learning about new tools and techniques that will create interesting images in a new medium as we work with film. I also hope to improve upon and maintain the skills I've learned in quarter one so that at the end of the quarter in January I can be very proud of all the images in my portfolio.
