Unique Lighting

This image shows Eero standing in front of a tunnel of light and fire on a pier at nighttime. I made this image with Griffin, who lit some steel wool in a whisk and spun it around on a wire while walking backwards. My exposure was set to 25 seconds, so it was able to capture the line of sparks emitting from the steel wool. I edited it in photoshop to make the colors even more orange, to emphasize the fire-tunnel feel and general "coolness" that it gives off.

The image uses leading lines/repetition (in the form of circles leading to the end of the pier). It also uses reflection, in the color of the flames on the wet tar, and rule of thirds. I tried a lot of different steel wool setups and they all looked really cool (and are included below), but this one is the strongest from a compositional standpoint.

It reminds me of those movies where the cool guy never looks back at the explosion, except this is a very unique kind of explosion for the hero to not be looking at. It can also show that there is a very cool world around us, if we turn around. If I were to change something I would tell Eero over and over again not to move, because apparently one time doesn't do it.
