This image shows my mom and my sister gazing into a glass window that shows their reflections. While they are not focused on the reflections themselves, both the reflection and the people are a prominent part of the image. I made this by chance, and took a candid photo of them looking at the pool in the hotel we had just checked into, which was behind the glass window. The pool made the left half of the image blue, so I edited the entire photo to have more of a blue tint.
The image uses formal balance, high and low key lighting, and some leading lines above their heads, showing the depth of the window relative to the point of view of the camera. Originally, the photo was a further distance from the subjects, but I cropped it to remove unnecessary and distracting elements.
The image is supposed to seem cool (in a temperature sense) and thoughtful, as we don't see any indication of what they are looking at except for their reflections. If I were to change something, I would like it to be more balanced between the glass and the subjects, and the top doesn't seem entirely level to me.
