Photograms

The collage shows the Boston Harbor, with flowers lining the edge and the sky replaced by a steel wool image and a picture of my dog in the middle of the loop. I used photoshop to make the main collage, and for the first image i placed a cutout of a boat on top of the transparency when exposing the image to photo paper. For the second image, I printed a transparency of the quote and overlayed it on the collage. I wanted to do something with a landscape because there is so much space and opportunity for other objects and images to interact with it.

The collage uses leading lines, repetition, and the rule of thirds. Originally, there was no dog in the center of the steel wool, but I decided after playing around with photoshop that adding another element of focus would make the collage more interesting.

The image is meant to show a world on fire on the water. The contrast of sparks and water is interesting to me and I like how the flowers create depth in the image. This image is a nice mix of all of my favorite and best images, so this collage makes me happy. If I were to change one thing, I might try and print without the drawn in ocean that the boat is resting on.
