1. Log into the LogMeIn homepage, using your credentials given by management.
2. After logging in, the main page will list all of the active computers currently running LogMeIn. Scroll or CTRL + F to find the appropriate one, and click on its name.
3. A popup will appear, asking for the computer’s access code. This should be listed on the salon’s Admin page. Copy and paste this code into the text field for access to the PC.
When you log in and select a POS to connect to, you may be presented with two different authentication methods: The Windows username and password, or a simple authentication code. They will both work fine, but it can sometimes be necessary to ask the salon staff for the Windows authentication info – record this in the store notes section on admin for future use, if you do.
To learn more about the difference, see LogMeIn’s documentation the topic.
1. Sign on to LogMeIn, select Deployment from the links on the left, and then the ready-made Deployment Kit.
2. Download this Deployment Kit to the client computer, and run the install program.
3. Enter the following credentials when prompted:
Store Name: Same as Admin page name.
Access Code: Store’s LMI Access Code on Admin
Note: If for some reason a new access code needs to be created, use the ONLY the random password generator located on this website. Be sure also to document and save the new access code into Admin.
4. Add a clear and concise note to the stores admin page. Something like this format is ideal so everyone can see it
*************************************
LogMeIn Installed
Username: PROPOINT LMI ACCOUNT
Access Code: 6EpU$ha@
*************************************
1. From the computer list, access the store you are looking for by clicking on it – but there is no need to actually remotely connect to it.
2. Click Computer Management in the dashboard panel on the left, and then select the Windows User you need to make the change to.
3. This will give you the ability to make a few changes to the User. Start by checking off the Password never expires box and then click the Apply button.
4. Next, click the Change Password button. Here you can set it to whatever the user would like, or simply leave it blank to disable the Windows log in screen. Click Apply to save the changes.
Windows 8 has some issues with LogMeIn. Oftentimes, the system’s user password interferes with the connection, resulting in a failed connection attempt. The workaround for this is to create a LogMeIn access code via the following method:
Exit LogMeIn by right clicking on the icon in the notification area.
Go to My Computer
Right Click and select Manage
Look for a user called: LogMeInRemoteUser
If it doesn’t exist then create a user with that name.
Add the user to the Administrators group.
Restart LogMeIn by going to the Start > Programs folder
Now when you right click on the LogMeIn service and select change password, you will be asked for an access code.
The release of the Windows v1803 Creators Update has proven to be problematic when installing LogMeIn on a computer for the first time. The following is a temporary workaround to be employed when encountering this issue. Shown below is the error message usually received when the issue presents itself.
Custom installers that are linked to proprietary accounts, such as ours with ProPoint, have been found to be the root cause of the issue. The workaround involves using the file found here, as opposed to the one we use now. An alternative can also be found here on the FTP account as well, and you will need to login with your ProPoint credentials, as shown below.
When it is time to select the user profile, select “User of Rogers Software Development”, as shown in the example below.
Windows Defender (a.k.a. “Windows Security”) may need to be disabled if there are any other conflicts encountered during the installation process.
If you encounter a black screen when attempting to remote in via LogMeIn, try toggling through the LMI Color Quality settings, as this may restore the image. More information on this fix can be found here in the LogMeIn forums.
