For most systems, install the first driver on the list…this is good for:
Windows Server 2003/2008 32-bit or 64-bit system
Windows XP 32-bit or 64-bit system
Windows Vista 32-bit or 64-bit system
Windows 7 32-bit or 64-bit system
Note: After you download and extract this .zip file, you will see several folders. You will normally use the ITherm280-576 folder. Please use the Add Printer Wizard to install this driver. If you have a USB printer, after plugging in the USB cable, you may get a Found New Hardware Wizard dialog window. Click “Cancel”. Use the Add Printer Wizard to install the printer.
Once the printer has been installed, you’ll need to setup the com port emulation. Download the Transact Virtual Serial Port Device Driver (TVS Driver) utility. Direct download link
This is for USB printers only
Virtual Serial Port Device Driver for an iTherm 280 on a Windows 2000, Windows XP (XP requires SP1), Windows Vista, or Windows 7 (32bit) system
Note: The Virtual Serial Port Device Driver (TVS Driver) does not support any 64-bit Windows Operating Systems.
Correction: I have seen this work on 64 bit system not sure if it’s the best option though.
Download and Unzip the drivers.
Run the program file: TransactTVSInstaller.exe
Select option 3, Install new driver.
Select a Virtual COM port to be created.
Click OK.
Once complete, you will be asked to reboot.
Reboot.
Once the PC is back up, have the printer on and ready, then plug in the USB cable.
Configure receipt printer settings in SS using the port created from step 5.
