This device is plug and play – it requires no additional set up or drivers beyond connecting it to an open USB port, but it may require troubleshooting in some cases.
Our hardware sales team now sells the Evo 2D model, but in the past we have also sold the XI3200 which was also provided by POSx but is now outdated technology. For instance it is incapable of scanning a mobile device screen, while the Evo 2D being the more modern solution, can do this and more.
The XI3200 is plug and play, and will follow the exact same troubleshooting scenarios as the Evo 2D.
Some customers may opt to use an unsupported device, which is perfectly fine with one exception – ProPoint only provides support for POSx bar code readers. If you work with a customer that is using a device we don’t support, you can suggest that they re-seat the USB connection or reboot the PC, but beyond that they will need to contact the device manufacturer for further assistance.
