Many SuperSalon users prefer to use a touchscreen for their daily business activity. Our relationship with POSx offers us high quality hardware to provide to our customers, and most of them end up using them as opposed to purchasing their own. While ProPoint Support always goes above and beyond, if you encounter a touch screen that is not POSx – that means the customer got it elsewhere.
Give them a few troubleshooting options to try, and thoughtfully explain that their best option may be to call the hardware manufacturer, and that you can’t assist beyond the very basics due to company policy, and liability.
All of the various hardware our customers can take advantage of have a few important requirements that need to be taken care of before the installation can be considered complete:
Follow the steps in the Windows Power Settings Change article to be sure the hardware communication is not interrupted by Windows.
Complete the settings changes in the User Account Control Settings article to be sure any hardware drivers are not disrupted.
These are requirements – that means they must be completed for every hardware set up, no exceptions.
Click here to go to the POSx Ion TM2b driver page, and follow the instructions on their page to download the correct driver:
If your serial number is less than GM1500598 – Download IdealTek_Touch_Driver.zip NOTE: Does not support Windows 10
If your serial number is equal to, or greater than GM1500598 – Download eGalaxy_Touch_Driver.zip
If your serial number starts with JV – Download ELO_Touch_Driver.zip
2. Unzip the driver folder and open it.
Right click setup.exe and run it as administrator.
2. Complete the driver installation, and do a calibration of the hardware to ensure efficacy.
3. Have the salon staff try the touch screen on SuperSalon to be sure it’s working properly.
Locate dirt, debris, residue, or blots/drops of anything that looks like it may fool the system into thinking a touch is being issued there. It is surprising how sensitive these overlays can be, and they have to be, for the most optimum performance. So, to begin troubleshooting any touch issues, start by using a soft cloth and some 70% isopropyl alcohol to really wipe the screen down. Inspect the inner LCD bezel for debris. Use a can of duster-air and/or folded piece of paper for the tight places. Next, inspect the screen for scratches, pits or dents. All of the above will produce results, such as, misaligned touch, or a cursor that is constantly retracting back to the same position.
First, if using a touch monitor, start by resetting the USB cable on both, the computer, and touch monitor ends, and use a different USB port on the PC end. If all USB ports are currently utilized, try swapping with another simple device, such as, a keyboard, mouse, memory stick etc. Avoid swapping with a printer, as this may produce printing problems.
If using a Touch PC or Touch Monitor, let’s start with Calibration. Head to your Start Menu, select All Programs and locate the Touch Utility (EVO product line) folder, and locate your calibration option to begin.
