In some cases, salon staff will clock into a non-production position early in the day to do off-the-floor work (like cleaning, organizing, inventory, etc.). If you find that the employee is not clocked into a production position, simply have them go to the time clock and punch in under one.
Go to Setup → Positions and take note of which positions are production, and which ones are not.
2. Check Reports → Payroll → TimeCard for the employee’s punches today, and verify their position.
1. Go to Reports → Payroll → TimeCard and take note of their clock in time. Is it accurate compared to the actual time at the salon? Were they clocked out unintentionally?
2. If you are working with a salon manager, show them the mistake and how they can fix it (edit the times). If it’s a stylist or receptionist, direct them to their manager to correct the issue after explaining the cause.
Go to Manager → Employee profile → Allowed Service Categories and review the Applied Categories list on the right. Is it empty? This is likely the problem, and can be fixed by clicking the Apply All button.
SuperSalon needs to have the following configurations to be sure the time is correct:
Allow Windows to set the time automatically, and set the timezone automatically. Confirm that it’s showing the correct timezone based on the salon’s location.

As of the 5.9 version of SuperSalon, a new feature has been integrated that helps the salon management and business owners control payroll expenses through blocking certain amounts of time on the timeclock. This prevents staff members from clocking in from a break early, or attempting to get extra time by milking the clock. The control for this feature can be found in the software settings under System >TimeClock & Scheduling, and it can be set to “0” to completely disable the feature altogether, as shown in the image below.
However, when any value of one minute or more is added, it will block the employee from clocking back in until that number of minutes prior to the actual clock I have time has expired.
If an employee forgets to punch in or punch out, a red line indicates an error. Select the line to pull up the Timeclock Adjustment screen. The helper will display the closest time possible to what the actual punch in or punch out time would have been.
Tip: The Timeclock Adjustment screen has many features. A helper screen shows when an employee’s first interaction and last transaction occurred. This is very helpful if they forget to punch in or out, or if you suspect that they are staying on the clock too long. On this screen you can edit existing entries (times or position worked) and you can add new entries. You can also adjust Off Floor Hours as well as add Additional Bonus Amounts.
