Well-being is a major concern for people of all ages. In year 11 Health you will have the opportunity to inquire into well-being issues and have the opportunity to take action to enhance an aspect of well-being. This will lead you on a pathway to improve the well-being for self, other people or society. Well-being encompasses the mental/emotional, social, spiritual and physical dimensions of an individual. This course will lead into an NCEA Level two Health pathway. If you are passionate about some of these areas then stand up for well-being and be counted,

Hauora (Well-being) features strongly in this course and something that will be covered in depth at the start of this course. Common health issues and contributing factors to health issues such as
Body image
Stress management
Adolescent alcohol use and misuse
Food related issues
Maintenance of reproductive/sexual health
Coping with change
Any relevant well-being issues
This course explores health issues through the lense of the underlying concepts within Health and Physical Education. This provides opportunity to critically explore and discuss health issues, ethical issues and gain better insights into health and health services within New Zealand.
