Before you go into any work for HEA3 this week I would like you to scroll down and load up one of the three videos that I have included below. This term is going to be a different kind of challenge to what we have all seen, experienced and known it to be. As your teachers for HEA3 we are going to do our best to support you however we can to get reach those goals that you have set for yourself. Spend a few minutes just listening to one of these three (or all of themif you want) before commencing any HEA3 work
By the end of this week
I have completed the NZ health issues assessment reflection form
I have completed my resubmission for the New Zealand health issues assessment task
I am working through the International health issue external resources online to support my understanding (Blue is linked to resources page)
This is a reflection form that every person in HEA3 must complete. Without feedback we cannot support future students in HEA3 and cannot develop our own practices and approaches. Please take a serious look at the questions and respond in a manner that will provide Mr Austin with real feedback that is constructive for both teaching and development of the course going forward.
I have
Explained why your chosen topic is a New Zealand health issue
Explained at least three major determinants of health (for example: political, cultural, economic and/or social determinants) that are influencing your chosen topic in New Zealand and describing the nature of each determinant as well as how it is influencing your chosen topic
Explained implications of your chosen health issue (the positive and the negative aspects; short-term and long-term impacts) for the well-being of individuals, their relationships with others, and for society as a whole – the local community as well as New Zealand society
- Recommended at least two coherent strategies to improve health outcomes for people affected by this in relation to your chosen issue in New Zealand. These strategies must connect the health issue and the determinant of health with any of the underlying concepts such as hauora, socio-economic status, health promotion or attitudes and values.
For each of your strategies you will explain:
- the nature of each strategy (what actions are involved)
- how this will be reduced and health outcomes will be improved for people affected by this issue in New Zealand
