By the end of this week
-I have planned out my week 9 inquiry sessions (60 & 90)
-I have begun research on my "I wonder" topic
-Reflected on learning from our whole class context
-Who is affected by your topic?
-Why are the affected? Not affected?
Consider things such as the determinants of health in this response. Determinants of health are things that contribute towards health and well-being in both positive and negative ways. Determinants (D.O.H) are broken into lifestyle and personal determinants.
Lifestyle determinants describe aspects that you make decisions for. Such as choosing to smoke, drink alcohol or behaviours that you have a choice over. All of these can either contribute towards your health or take away from your health and well-being. Personal determinants are things that you cannot change. This is your age, genetic make-up and gender (yes, we can change gender). Some examples of personal determinants of health are things like your genetic dispositon and being higher risk of things like heart disease or cancer.
Social: Stress, addcition, early childhood and parental factors, unemployment and transport are all part of the social determinant
Political: What role does politics and the government have in this issue? How are they contributing towards this issue through a lack of funding, laws and policies ect
Environnemtal: Access to clean drinking water, high levels of pollution and access to green spaces all fall under environmental determinants. Consider the impact of high density housin gon health and well-being? What examples can you see of this in New Zealand and more closely, Flatbush with the housing and Barry Curtis park.
Cultural: Behaviours and norms that are associated with groups of people. These behaviours, values or norms are ways that we interact with other people. This can be ethnic gorups, New Zealand cutlure such as "drinking culture" or smaller groups such as hegemonic masculinity or toxic masculinity culture.
Economic: Access to money to pay for things that people need for basic survival
