I can explain the underlying concept of hauora
I can apply understanding of hauora to a written task
Hauora is a Māori philosophy of health unique to New Zealand. It comprises taha tinana (Physical), taha hinengaro (Mental & Emotional), taha whanau (Social), and taha wairua (Spiritual).
Each dimension of Hauora are just as important as each other. It is considered that if one dimension is effected, all dimensions are effected.
Now that you have an understanding of hauora, apply this understanding when responding to one of the two questions.
I understand what an ethical issue may look like within a health context
This week we are beginning to gain an understanding of what ethical issue are. This video clip is a good example of an ethical issue within a healthcare setting. The document below is a list of issues that also fall under the ethical issues discussion as they also have groups who are "for" and "against" for them. Some of them are not health related but the idea is to build up our understanding of ethical issues and the differing attitudes and values that come with each of these.
The following video is a clip from the show Greys anatomy. It reflects a situation within the hospital where ethics comes into play. The video clip is intense between 2:08 and 2:25. This is an example of where ethics comes into play. Reflect on the clip and the roles of the doctors in this video and see where they are coming from to explain their actions and beliefs.
