I have completed and proof read my opening introduction "explan why your chosen topic is a New Zealand health issue"
I have sufficient reserach on my chosen New Zealand health issue (reports, news articles, documentaries, interviews)
Watch the video resources explaining determinants of health
I am working through my reserach to unpack two factors that contribute towards the issue
I have begun writing up my paragraphs on factors influencing my NZ health issue(use the planning and sentence starter document at the bottom)
In your table groups discuss the following statistic. When discussing this statistic reflect on why you think this is the case?
What has contributed towards this?
Why is there such a significant difference
The average life expectancy for a female living in the suburb of Remuera (Auckland) is 87.5 years and for males it is 84.7 years. The average life expectancy for a person who lives in Mangere is 78.5 (Female) and 74.1 for males. That is a 9 year difference for females and a 10.6 year difference for males. The distance from Remuera to Mangere is 13.8km (via roads and less than 10km in a straight line)
While this aspect reflects the determinants of health. It is important that all students understand that for the internal "Analyse a New Zealand health issue" you are not required to stick strictly to determinants of health (DOH). For the purpose of the assessment you must now explain how "factors" contribute to this issue. This may well include DOH but it may well also include things beyond these. This will be reflected in your research on your New Zealand health issue.
Below are examples of DOH in action wthin New Zealand for you to continue developing your understanding of these.
