By the end of this week
I have read throught the NZ health practices assessment task
I can explain what is required for this assessment task
I have clearly indicated via Google classroom question my method of submission for this assessment task
I can explain the western scientific medicine philosophy and provide examples
I have begun research on my chosen health context for a western scientific method (WSM) practice
Your course teacher will engage with you in coversation regarding your chosen health circumstance and the access to sources and treatments for your chosen health circumstance. It is important that you have completed the 3,2,1 task before this can happen to ensure this topic is chosen with good depth of discussion BEFORE you start researching
Is there a context that you may have some links to? Perhaps a grandparent is diabetic? Someone you know of smokes and is needing to quit but hasnt been able to find a treatment that can support them better? Maybe mental health has become more of a significant and important aspect of your life since the COVID-19 pandemic started? Choose a context that you have interest in and not one that you think is easier. If you have interest then you will do better because you will want to learn more without actively trying to push yourself to learn more. It becomes something you find yourself looking into instead of scrolling through social media wasting 30 minutes of your time.
Candidates must relate the health practices to an identified health circumstance. The health circumstance may be existing, or one which could be prevented. Health circumstances include:
a mental illness e.g. major or chronic depression
an addiction e.g. smoking
a physical illness or disease e.g. cancer, diabetes
pain management e.g. back pain, arthritis,
reproductive health e.g. birth, (in)fertility.
