Fizzing Candy Canes

• candy canes (as many as you like!)

• baking soda

• vinegar

• food colouring

• baking sheet

• Spoon, baster, dropper, squeeze bottle

Cover your baking sheet with baking soda and place your candy canes on top.

Mix vinegar and food colouring of your choice - you could mix several colours to add to the fun!

Use the spoon/baster/squeeze bottle to pour the vinegar on the baking soda and observe the reaction.

Keep adding vinegar to the tray until there is no more chemical reaction happening.

Observe what happens to the candy canes as they fizzle in the tray.

Leave your tray set up for an hour and observe any changes that happened to the candy canes.
