Materials: You need 5 dice and a recording sheet for this game. (You could borrow dice from other board games to collect 5)
We've included a few versions of the game that you can select from depending on your child's math skills.
Thank you Emma S. and family for the inspiration!
During each turn, a player can roll the die 3 times.
First roll - Roll all 5 die and select which number you are going to try to collect and set those die aside
Second roll - roll the remaining die as you try to collect more of your selected number (you can change your mind if you roll more of a different number). Set aside the die you want to keep.
Third roll - roll any remaining die as you try to collect the most of the number you selected.
Count and record the results from your three rolls.
Player 2 has a turn.
In this game - students are working to collect the most of one number only.
They are recording the number of die they rolled for each number only. (For example, they rolled 3 fours - they write 3 on their recording sheet.)
You can watch the video below to see how to play with Mme Cara.
In this game - students are working to collect the most of one number only and practicing addition skills.
They are recording the SUM of the number of die they rolled for each number. (For example, they rolled 3 fours - they add them together and write 12 on their recording sheet.)
You can watch the video below to see how to play with Mme Cara.
In this game - students are playing similar to the original. They need to add the sums and look for 3, 4, 5 of a kind and 4 and 5 in a row.
You can watch the video below to see how to play with Mme Cara.
This is the original version of the game that you can play alone against the computer or you can add multiple players. The platform does the addition for you and shows you the possibilities as you roll the die so you can make the choice with the largest sum.
