Look at the picture and decide which image does not belong. There are no wrong answers in this activity as long as you can give a reason for your pick. For example: The number 1 doesn't belong because it's not a coin.
Choose a coin and give a reason for why it doesn't belong. How many reasons can you come up with?
Show your child different coins and bills.
They can trace the circle of the coins or draw them free handed. Note the different sizes of coins
Then have them print the amount on the coin
Colour them an identical colour.
Cut them out and play store!
Find some coins you can sort
Use a muffin tin or different containers to sort the coins (penny, nickel, dime, quarter, loonie and toonie)
Use pieces of paper or paper muffin liners and write the amount in each one for your child to match - you can use the name of the coin or the value of the coin.
More Advanced: Use pieces of paper or paper muffin liners and write different amounts where your child has to use different coins to make that amount. You can use multiples of 5 or 10 if they are able to count by 5's or 10's.
