Instead of making it a race, keep the game friendly by taking turns adding your cards together. As we develop skills, we don't need the competitive aspect to the game. Once you notice your child is developing confidence and fluidity in their number sense skills, then you can introduce the competitive aspect if your child enjoys games with winners and losers (and can handle losing!) Have fun!!
