Number lines are very useful when teaching children about math. They help us understand the numeral, counting one to one, the quantity the number represents and helps with addition and subtraction. There are a lot of games you can play with a number line (or 2).
Paper
Colouring tools (markers or crayons)
Straight edge or ruler (optional)
Tape (optional)
Draw a straight horizontal line across your paper (using a straight edge is optional)
Add small lines a little ways apart and number them from 1 to ten (or more)
__!_____!_____!_____!_____!_____!_____!_____!
Add the numbers 1- 10 (or more) underneath.
Decorate as you like.
Extension: With painters tape you can create one on your floor.
How many? Collect the correct number of items to represent the number as shown with the shoes. ( I used blocks.)
The Race! Create 2 number lines (one for each player). Have a marker (i.e. a car, a plate, a stuffie) for each player on each number line. Roll a die. Move ahead on the number
