This is Ms. Devon’s first year teaching at Notre Dame, and she is already enjoying it! Before becoming a teacher, she was a substitute here at ND in 2018. She decided to join the ND family because of this. She finds herself as a safe space for everyone, especially towards students. Her favorite part about teaching is the students; she states, “there’s never a dull day” with them.
Other than being in school, Ms. Devon stays in the dorms with the international students, and she absolutely enjoys it. She stays the night in the dorms, along with her dog, Calzone. In her free time, she attends many sporting events including girls and boys soccer. She plans to attend many more events, especially basketball games in the future. She also loves to travel; she just recently went on a trip to Iceland.

This year, Mr. Dibble has returned to our Notre Dame Community and is most excited about the comradery of our teachers and students who are willing to learn. When asked about his favorite Notre Dame tradition, he answered with our beloved Golden Mass, as our school comes together to provide gifts for the less fortunate in our community. Mr. Dibble served just over twenty years in the Elmira Police Department, where he spent ten years as a police officer, and another ten years as an investigator. In addition, Mr. Dibble is able to use his experiences serving in the Elmira Police Department as a way to connect and educate the youth for educational purposes.
Occupation: Mental health counselor
Tell a little about yourself: I love spending time with my kids, my family and my friends. I enjoy making memories, cooking, pretending I have a green thumb.
Why did you go into social work? Typically social workers want to help others for one reason or another and I love connecting with people.
What made you choose ND? I love this age group (high school and junior high). The opportunity was offered so of course I wanted to take it. Especially since I have always heard great stuff about this school.
What’s your favorite part of your job? I am so happy I can connect with kids and it’s great that I am able to be creative.
Anything else you want to tell the students of ND? Everyone has been so nice and welcoming and the experience has been great. I’m always available to stop in my office and chat or even just to say hi!

This year we welcome Mr. Horvat as one of the new teachers at Notre Dame. He has been teaching for about 27 years and has taught many different subjects such as Earth Science, Living Environment, STEM classes, 7th and 8th grade sciences and others. Currently, he teaches biology and Human Bio. One of Mr. Horvat’s favorite parts about teaching, is seeing students graduate and then succeed in their career paths. Since being at Notre Dame, Mr. Horvat has been consistently impressed with the intelligence and attitude of Notre Dame students. He is looking forward to the rest of the school year and all the upcoming events!

Welcome to ND!
Ms. Krebs has joined ND’s staff teaching Geometry and Algebra II. Joining the Notre Dame family has been a fun and exciting experience. Mrs. Krebs is looking forward to golden mass and all the other traditions Notre Dame has to offer. Her favorite event Notre Dame has had this year was the blessing of the animals (partly because of the adorable baby cow!) While Ms. Krebs has a soft spot for the sophomores as she is their homeroom teacher, Ms. Krebs enjoys having the unique experience of teaching grades 9-12. Ms. Krebs is delighted to be a part of the Notre Dame family and is excited to participate in other traditions throughout the year.

We are delighted to have Mrs. Mondock join us this year! She currently teaches 7th, 8th, and AIS English here at Notre Dame. We were unfortunately unable to make a connection with her to find out more about her, but we will catch up with her soon and feature her in a future edition!
Mr. Mustico is in his first year of teaching. He says it has had its challenges teaching for the first time but overall it has been great. His favorite part of being a teacher is seeing the kid’s art and how they execute different principles. He says not much has changed since being a student at Notre Dame. In his free time, he likes to draw, play video games, and fly from time to time.

What is your name? Karen Ronsivalle
What is your occupation? Theology teacher at NDHS
Tell me a little about yourself. I enjoy reading, trying new recipes, traveling, spending time with family.
What made you decide to come back to Notre Dame? Ever since I left, I missed it terribly and when I received the call to come back, I was very excited.
Why did you choose Notre Dame from the beginning? Well, it kind of fell into my lap, my kids were here, and it was a volunteer requirement for me to do study skills but that led to occasionally substituting for teachers and then Sister Nancy asked me to consider teaching.
Why did you want to teach? Well again, it kind of fell into my lap, but during grad school I had a master’s degree in English but I was not sure what job I wanted, and with a scholarship I was working in the English department, which led to being a substitute sometimes...
If you wanted people to know one thing about you, what would it be? I was on Jeopardy!

On Sunday, August 27th, the community of Notre Dame celebrated the life of Beckie Ryan in Joel Stephens Park. A bench was dedicated in her honor and can be found inside the garden. During this gathering, memories of Beckie were shared along with music and prayer. After the ceremony, people were invited to enjoy cookies, snacks, and ice cream. It was a wonderful day filled with love and support for Mr & Mrs. Ryan and their family.
