Martin Luther King, Jr. was an African-American man who believed in equality. He went to college at the young age of 15 years old. Martin Luther King, Jr. had probably the most famous speech of all time: "I have a dream." He gave the speech at the Lincoln Memorial. Sadly, Martin Luther King, Jr. was fatally shot at the Lorraine Motel in Memphis, Tennessee, on April 4th, 1968 at 6 PM. Martin Luther King, Jr. died a hero and was a role model for many. He died because he shared his thoughts and beliefs to the public, which ultimately cost him his life. Most everyone, including himself, believes that his death for equality was worth it for equality. Legislation making Martin Luther King, Jr. Day a federal holiday was passed in 1983, and the first nationwide observance took place in 1986. President Ronald Reagan signed the holiday into law. On the third Monday of January, Martin Luther King, Jr. Day comes around. Everyone rejoices in MLK for the sacrifices he made for people and sacrifices he made for people in the future.Â
Unlike last year when students had the option to take exams in person or virtually, all Crusaders will take exams traditionally at the end of January. Despite some mishaps with testing, students now return in person for both regular school and exams beginning on the 21st. Kicking off the 2022 midterm exam schedule, Crusaders start with their English testing on Friday, January 21 in the morning and foreign language exams in the afternoon. Given time to review over the weekend, students will return on Monday the 24th to tackle their history exams in the morning. After a taxing week of preparing and working through and tackling the testing, students will use Friday as either a makeup exam date or a hard-earned day off to celebrate the end of the second semester.
