Well, you probably have no idea what the book is based on. So from 2001 to 2009 a show called Monk aired on TV; it was about a detective with OCD. The detective’s name is Adrian Monk and the show is about him solving murders but at the same time having lots of phobias. Normally, a book based on a TV show wouldn’t have been common, but this book was released in 2012. My plan was to just make a brief summary of the TV show, but I found out they kept making these books until 2015. I mean, this TV show was good, but I don’t know why they were making books 6 years after the show ended.
The whole book is about one of Monk’s former rivals getting out of jail and having to catch him. One strange thing about this book is that the narrator is Natalie Tiger, one of Monk’s old assistants. This wouldn’t be a problem if she was in most of the story. During the book, there is a wedding going on that all of the main characters are going to, and that’s the only time Natalie and Monk meet. Well, the only reason I would guess that she’s the narrator is that in another Monk book I read, she is with him the whole story, so the writer just didn’t feel like picking a different character. Monk's former rival Dale the whale happens to be a very overweight person who is temporarily let out of jail for liposuction. After a major accident on the highway, the hospital is flooded with patients, and in the madness, Dale goes missing. The rest of the book involves Monk and the police following leads onto where Dale is.
I found this at a library and have really been enjoying it. I’m glad I picked this book to do a review on and hope to do more of these in the future. My rating for this is 3.5/5 stars. I liked the book but when I read it I had a few problems with it and how it sometimes didn’t stick to the source material.
