Happy Year of the Dragon! This year's celebrations started with a delicious luncheon of Chinese food prepared by Mrs. Looney for the faculty on Friday, February 9th. The next week began with a Dress Down Day to wear red, and everyone got chocolate coins in homeroom. There were Chinese crafts at lunchtime, and, of course, the Annual Dumpling Competition!

This year the Annual Dumping Competition was heated! It featured the Red Dragons, The Big Dumplers, The Jumbo Dumplings, and Jiao Zi Buddies. Our kitchen staff member, Donna, was the judge. In the end, The Jumbo Dumplings pulled through and emerged victorious. Hope to see you there next year!

Valentine's Day, the season of love, the holiday where we go and buy flowers and chocolates for the ones we love such as our friends, family, and maybe even pets. The season where stores are pinker than pink and people are racing through to get the best Valentine gifts! The time of year when love is in the air and panic is in the card aisle. The way we celebrate Valentine's Day is quite simple: heart-shaped chocolates, flowers, and cards.
Now we all love receiving heart-shaped chocolate, but where did Valentine’s Day come from? Valentine’s Day is actually the Feast day of St. Valentine, although there are multiple stories on who St. Valentine was, or how many St. Valentine’s there were. One story of St. Valentine was that St. Valentine was a priest who performed secret weddings for Christians. He was killed on February 14. This Valentine’s Day was on Wednesday, February 14th, 2024.
