On September 9, 2021, students returned to the halls of Notre Dame for the 2021-22 school year. While unfortunately, mask mandates held strong, so did school spirit. The first day of school consisted of welcoming students through a wide variety of activities throughout the day. For a change, a few new uniform options circled the halls as well. For the first time ever, items such as a gold polo, navy pants, and a uniform hoodie made their debut. First, students reported to their homeroom teacher and received locker combinations. For some, this was a new skill as lockers were not in use last year due to covid. Following a brief visit to homeroom, students set out by grade level to pay visits to guidance, campus ministry, the library, and pictures! Following this rotation, students spent the afternoon following their prospective schedules and meeting new teachers. As the first day of school came to a close, many students returned to the athletic fields once again resuming their fall sports.

Over the September 17th weekend, events were held to celebrate this milestone. On Friday, September 17th, the Lady Crusaders of the Girls Varsity Soccer Team took on Waverly in the Brewer Stadium. On Saturday the 18th, "Shenanigans" was held at the school in partnership with Liquid Shoes Brewing. This included beer & wine tastings, food tastings, and raffle drawingsーall with live music from the Green Holler and Latimer Lee bands. On Sunday the 19th, a Celebration of the Mass was held in the Charles & Mary Crossed Auditorium with Bishop Salvatore Matano. The special weekend wrapped up with a reception following the Mass.

For an entire week, students, faculty, and staff at Notre Dame High School celebrated the school’s Mercy Week. To celebrate the anniversary of the opening of the first House of Mercy in Dublin, Ireland, which included the very first Mercy classroom for the very first Mercy students. As part of our celebration, our school community was called to action by Mrs. McCaig, to team up with the Southside Community Center. Last year we raised the money to start this project but were unable to actually make the renovations due to being shut down for Covid. This year we sprang into action: each day a different class worked together to renovate the Community Center, both inside and outside with new paint and decorations. Everyone should be proud of the work they did! At the end of the week, students and teachers enjoyed the assembly organized by Mrs. McCaig, full of fun videos, skits, a dance, a live-streamed reveal, and heartfelt speeches. It was a fun week full of spirit and mercy.

The week leading up to the Homecoming Football Game is always one of the most exciting weeks of the school year. Throughout the week of "Pajama Day," "Meme Day," "Country vs. Country Club Day," "Color Day," and "Spirit Day." the halls were bursting with school spirit. On Thursday night, Notre Dame High School hosted the annual Homecoming Bonfire filled with blasting music. Of course, there was our annual pep rally during school. Steven Gough and Caroline Viselli really pumped up the crowd! The HomecomingFootball Game was surely a success. Notre Dame won 42-22 against Unadilla Valley. (Yay!) Last but not least, congratulations to all the girls on the Homecoming Court!! Everyone looked amazing! :)
