The ND Spotlighters put on their performance of “The Worst High School Play in the World” on April 28th and 29th. The show is a medieval comedy play-within-a-play that tells the story of a royal family, an evil king and magician, a family of squirrels, and various others. The cast was headed by Rafael Soares as Prince Ivanha; Lydia Howe as Queen Nina; Caroline Horton as Princess Corsicana; Bella Mashewske as Lady Lenore; Joseph Gallagher as Prince Viscera; Isabella Busch as Magician Medulla; and Nathaniel Griffin as Shecky, the Court Jester. Elle Carvellas and Ash Stitley were featured as Belinda and Friar Rico, respectively, and served as the narrators. The show was a great success and the cast and crew were very happy with it! Special thanks to Miss Joyce, Mrs. Tanner, and Scanlon for all of their contributions that made sure this wasn’t the worst high school play in the world!

The end of the year is almost upon us, so that means a changing of the guard for the student council. The 2022-2023 student council of Isabella Griffin, Allie O’Brien, Violet Daly, and myself worked our hardest to make sure that everyone at Notre Dame had an amazing school year, but the time has come to welcome a new council. The elections this year were contested by Grey Haluska for treasurer, Jude Mann and Allie Marion for secretary, Elizabeth Kraeger for vice-president, and Ashlyn Stitley, Jose Neto, and Caroline Horton for president. The elections were filled with amazing speeches from Grey, Allie, Elizabeth, and Ashlyn. Jose and Caroline created hilarious videos that received applause from the crowd. Regardless of who won their positions, all of the candidates put forth their best and should be proud of themselves for having the courage to present in front of their peers. Despite the fact that all of the speeches and videos were fantastic, there had to be winners. Grey Haluska won the position of student council treasurer, Jude Mann won student council secretary, Elizabeth Kraeger won student council vice-president, and finally Caroline Horton won student council president. Congratulations to the new student council, and I am sure that the 2023-2024 school year will be even better with their guidance.
