On Tuesday, March 22nd, Notre Dame hosted the American Red Cross for a Blood Drive. Giving blood may seem like a scary experience, but in reality, it can be life-saving for many people. Every pint can contribute to three saved lives. The event was successful, and 14 people donated their blood, which could potentially save 42 lives. Next time we have a blood drive, consider donating your blood and think about the wonders you could do for another person.

Over the last two weeks, students and teachers alike have started to renovate the convent. Many of the walls have been painted over from a dark tan to a lighter gray. The hallways look much more welcoming and bright. Senior Isabella O’Toole comments, “Volunteering at the Convent was fun to help and even more so to do it with friends. I think the dorms are on their way to being better than they have ever been.” Some senior high students worked on a mural in the kitchen area. The plan is to paint a map of the Elmira area with important landmarks. The wall has been sketched and started. Seniors Kylee Bakely, Makenzy Runyan, and Alexia Blitz will continue to work on the mural. While much work has been completed, there is still much more to do. Mrs. McCaig plans on recruiting the lacrosse team to tear up old carpets from the floor and furniture will need to be moved in.
