The wait is over, the faculty spotlight is back! This issue concerns the guidance department, and the main man in junior high guidance, Mr. Montanarella. Hailing from the mean streets of Mansfield University, Mr. Montanarella is the resident expert in how to fix schedules, change classes, and guide students to be successful. Mr. Montanarella is beloved by the Notre Dame community and he is one of the few adults that still understands our Gen Z humor. Although fairly new compared to others, Mr. Montanarella is a mainstay of the Notre Dame faculty. As always, I decided to go out and ask the Notre Dame community what they think of Mr. Montanarella.
Zharia Ashley: "He always knows how to make all the students laugh, and is always there when you need him."
Patrick Scheftic: "He’s the realest."

Mother’s Day is such an important day that really grasps the importance of our mothers and everything they do for us. Mother’s Day gives us a chance to give a big shoutout to our mothers; with gifts, treats, movie days, time alone, etc. Moms help us so much, they are a figure everyone deserves to have to guide and lead you throughout life. Moms have advice that other people wouldn’t ever think of. Mothers always know what to say to make people feel better. I truly believe that moms have a superpower of comfort and support. Of course, we love dads, but I think we can all agree that moms teach us a lot of stuff growing up: how to tie shoes, how to swim, how to do hair or makeup, etc. Every mom has a different but very special way of parenting. There are just some people who have an enormous effect on our lives and I would say that that person is a mother or a mother figure, because even though some people might not have their birthmother, a lot of times there’s still someone who is basically a mother to you. You don’t have to be related, or son and mother, or daughter and mother to have a mom. If you find someone who cares, supports, and makes you feel welcome you found a mother. Moms are a big effect whether blood or not. That's why I love that we all take a day to truly celebrate our moms; because they celebrate us a lot - even though they have to deal with a lot sometimes, they still put up with us and give great help. So I hope you did something big for your mother on Mother’s Day!

On Friday, May 19th, our juniors attended the traditional Junior Picnic. Students got a break from the stress that comes along with the end of the year as they went to Round Top Park in Athens, Pennsylvania, to play games like wiffle ball, spike ball, and frisbee. Some of the juniors were able to venture off on a hike, as they enjoyed the beautiful weather that day. Burgers and hot dogs were enjoyed along with an abundance of snacks. The Junior Picnic is a great way for juniors to connect with one another, as becoming seniors now approaches faster than ever.

Teacher Appreciation Week is such an important week to me and should be important to everybody because all teachers do is help, support, care, and teach students. Being a teacher might not seem like such a tough job, but it truly is. Kids can sometimes be hard to connect with or to deal with but a lot of teachers take time to connect with their students and to get through to their students. The teachers that make strong relationships with their students are the ones that you can see truly care about their job and what they do. Teachers go to school every day and deal with usually 20 or more students, and typically it’s one teacher by himself or herself. Now a lot of kids are good but when there are 20 in a room, that’s a lot of work, and the teachers have to continue to print papers, homework, and tests, get schedules done, and lessons ready, all while being at school every day until at least 3:00 pm. All teachers try to do is help children all year. That’s why I think it’s so important to give them a week to appreciate, and thank teachers with gifts, notes, hugs, or even just a thank you. We appreciate all staff and teachers for everything they do for their students!
