Field Engineer Intern
This class has helped me by giving me the opportunity to explore a career area I am passionate about and interested in pursuing. It has made me a more desirable and all around employee, by presenting aspects of employees that set you apart and ahead of the rest. The class will be very beneficial in the long run, teaching me about a growth mindset and how to implement that in my day to day life.
I arrive at 1 for my 1:30 shift. By showing up early I am able to get a head start on my day and create a plan for the day. I get to my desk and check my emails, checking for important or time sensitive tasks or information. My days are all different with Miscellaneous tasks that one of my 3 supervisors assign. There are a couple tasks that are an everyday responsibility which require me to go to the site, one task is tracking the progress of the current trades that are working on site. This is important to keep constant clear communication with all the team members. I usually spend 1-2 hours on the site, tracking progress along with anything I can do to assist the superintendent. Once all my tasks are completed, I drive back to the office to update Milemark charts.
This internship has helped me by getting me a headstart on my career and gaining real world experience. This class isn't like other classes, it makes sure students are prepared to start their careers right out of high school, as well as giving onsite experience. The class also helps you manage your time along with money. This class has taught me how to be the best I can be and learn how to handle difficult situations.
I oversee tasks on the site that could potentially cause harm to materials or people
Clear communication from the site to the office is very important
By creating a safe work environment I make sure the workers can work more efficiently
