Food Service Intern
This class has helped me have a stronger career-ready and fulfilled learning experience at Monical's. By arriving to work at an earlier time, I am able to help get the store ready for the dinner rush and have the chance to have more responsibility and training. I have been able to be trained and train others to make extras, make breadsticks, and help clean & prep for the evening. I have gained more knowledge at my worksite and have been able to help my managers prepare staff and store by being there earlier.
This course is different because it gives opportunities that you won't find in another class in high school. For starters, you're able to leave at 12:30 and go on-the-job learning and build more real world career hours/experience on the job. Another big benefit is that students are able to have time in class to discuss your work and reflect on our experiences. You build new skills that benefit you in your place of work such as adaptability and professionalism. You can take these skills and apply them to your place of work to grow in many different ways. I was surprised how this class helped me grow in the workplace and build on skills for my future!
A day in my job starts with me clocking in everything then going to start preparing the ovens. With this preparation, I load everything from pizzas, pastas, sandwiches and etc. Then I unload them when they are complete and ready for the customer. We cut everything accordingly to a Monical's standard and wrap everything as well. Next, I work with the staff to prepare orders for the customer with our front service staff. I continue to do this throughout most shifts and then prepare the store for the dinner rush of my shift until it is time to clean and reset the restaurant for the next day's customers and staff.
