Warehouse Associate & Event Management Intern
This class has helped me by opening so many different doors of opportunity for me to grow and become the best employee I can be.
It gives MSHS students amazing opportunities that a lot of others don't. It helps to grow students in areas they cannot get in the classroom.
When I first arrive at the office, I always go and talk to my bosses first. We talk about what needed to get done that day and what has already happened before I arrive. I then go out into the warehouse, which is connected to the office space, and clock in for the day. I first start off by going over to the computer and getting my things I'll need for the day. I will work on getting online orders together by putting them through our system and packaging them up. I will usually work my way through the older orders and then work my way up in dates. Then I see if we have any in-store pickups, and I'll do those, so they can be taken the next morning. If there is any item within an order that we can't find, and should be in the warehouse, I'll make a list and email the store managers asking if they can send them to the warehouse to be shipped with its order. I will also have to send emails to customers about various things. Some of those are I sent some of their order out but not all, I had to refund some or all their orders, or we don't have a certain item they ordered and can choose a different piece of merchandise or a refund. This is what a normal day would look like when I work in the warehouse.
EVENTS
When working events it looks different from event to event.
I will get there when everyone gets there, which is usually really early. We all work together to get Grange Grove set up because they open first. Then, I'll go up with two of my bosses to set up Colonnades. I work alone up there, but there are not a lot of people who come up to my table when I'm working. All the people up there are super nice and most of them love to talk when they are looking at the merchandise. Colonnades is only open till the end of the third quarter, so it's easier to take everything down the elevator. I will then help outside wherever they need me or just hang out and talk with my other coworkers. These days usually last between 10 and 12-hour days.
Men's basketball is super fun in my opinion. There are four separate places within the State Farm Center to buy our apparel. Most of the time, you have one other person that works with you. One helps the customers while the other works the register. Only one person can work the register because we take cash and if the money is off then they know who it was. All the booths are open for the whole duration of the game.
