Here is the process for enrolling in the WPL course and program:
Step 1: Meet with your counselor to discuss your graduation requirements and if you are on track for enrolling in this program. Then, enroll in the course for the coming year.
Step 2: Apply for the program by completing the application found here. You can obtain a printed copy from Mrs. Wherley in C26 or your counselor. The application should be returned to Mrs. Wherley or your counselor by 2-20-26. If after the date, please see Mrs. Wherley.
NOTE: Students interested in applying for an internship with the Mahomet Seymour School District must complete WPL application and submit a letter of interest to Mrs. Wherley at jwherley@ms.k12.il.us by 3/2/26 to be considered for any positions with the Mahomet Seymour School District.
Step 3: Attend a meeting with Mrs. Wherley on 2-25-26 in the auditorium during 6th period. If you cannot attend on that date, please see Mrs. Wherley.
Step 4: Mrs. Wherley will meet with you in April-May to plan prospective job placements for the coming school year. You may also be asked to interview or meet with the job site host.
NOTE: Students who applied by application and submitted a letter of interest to Mrs. Wherley for an internship with the Mahomet Seymour School District by 3/2/26 may be asked to complete an interview during April/May and notified of potential placement by mid-May.
Step 5: Once an internship has been identified by the student; parents, the student, the job site supervisor, and the workplace learning coordinator (Mrs. Wherley) must sign and turn in needed documentation, including this memo of understanding, before starting work the following school year.
