How has this class helped me?
This class has allowed me to have the opportunity to make sure I am fully committed to cosmetology school once I graduate . It also helps me save money for cosmetology school instead of having to work really long hours after being at school for 8 hours.
This course is different because I am working in a salon and gaining skills and techniques in hair design experience before going to cosmetology school. It reassured me too that this is a career I am greatly fit for through my experiences in the workplace. I also think it is different because we can figure out what we want in life and be able to do it before we commit to it after high school.
Day in my job
I get my schedule on connect team (our scheduling app) and I normally check which stylist (s) I am working with for the day. I get there 15 minutes before my actual shift so I can see how busy the schedule is, get my towel, and clock in. I normally work 6 or more hours so I will look at how many appointments the stylist has and determine when I will take my break. When I find a time I will talk to both stylists and make sure the time still works for them. Before clocking out I will go check in with the receptionists at the front desk to see if I have any tips from that shift. I go back to the break room and put my towels from the day into the laundry, make sure the laundry doesn’t need to be switched or folded. If laundry needs folded I finish helping with that, I then grab my stuff and clock out.
