Values in Action
We aim to nurture civic conscious learners with a heart to empathize with the last, lost and the least.
Civic conscious: Everyone is part of the society and we have to be socially responsible and behave in a way that is of interest to society as a whole.
The last, lost and the least: This may be subjective to each pupil. Having them identify it themselves might add more value and encourage them to be more active contributors.
Explore and experience different perspectives: Students will be able to adopt different lenses, ones that they are not familiar with. Put themselves in the shoes of the last, least and the least. This is in hopes that it will cultivate the value of empathy.
Put their values in action: The experiences provided creates an avenue for Stephenians to exhibit and cultivate desired values.
Ponder upon the VIA experiences: It is essential for students to reflect and discuss about their experiences. Otherwise, they might not internalise these values that were exhibited. Discussion will promote critical thinking among the students and hopefully, internalisation and identification with the values.
Chart and follow a path to be contributing members to society and eventually, men of character: At the end of their journey in St. Stephen’s, Stephenians would have the necessary values to be civic conscious learners and continue to contribute actively to the society.
Key Outcomes:
Students acquire skills guided from “7 habits: The Leader in Me” to reflect upon themselves as a socially responsible student.
Develop students into leaders of character and active contributors to the community and environment.
Learn to show care and empathy for others in school and beyond through level and school-wide programmes.
Cultivate a sense of ownership to their immediate environment by being proactive in school and beyond.
