ParentAL Involvement

To strengthen partnership between home, school and the community, MOE has developed a Partnerships Framework, which serves to guide parents, schools and the community in their collaborative and complementary efforts, and to reach a common understanding of the goals and outcomes that they want to achieve for children’s learning and development. The framework ensures that a child’s education is supported at home and extends beyond the school into the community.

The framework outlines five principles to guide the partners in working together. These are:

e-Meet the Parents SOP (e-MTP)

All form teachers and subject teachers will be involved in this e-meet.

Step-by-Step for Guide for Setting Up of eMTP:

1) Create and use a recurring Zoom meeting for the stipulated e-MTP. Passcode is your name (e.g. Mr Sheikh, Mdm Herda, Mdm Yasotha, Mr Timothy etc).

2) Create e-MTP booking slots through PG Meetings function by 2 weeks ahead (dates are to be provided by your YH). You will then insert the Zoom meeting details. Refer to the PG e-MTP ppt step-by-step slides on creating the booking slots. Note: Parents Gateway requires three working days for slots to be created in the system.

3) Start to call/message the parents (from Week 8 onwards) whom you really would want to meet and arrange slots with them. Insert the child’s name first into your Meeting slots on the eve before the booking slots are opened to all parents.

4) Block 12.30 pm to 1.30 pm (4x15 min slot) for lunch.

5) You will need to call/conference with parents who did not get any slot during the two days. Assure them that you will follow up with them on another day and time when Term 2 starts.

6) Each meeting slot is by a 15 minutes block. Do consider engaging the parents about 10 to 13 minutes so that that you could have a few minutes breather before starting to admit another parent. Avoid stretching the conversation as it would have a snowball effect on the delays.

7) Prepare what you would like to share with the parents. You could share on the child's learning experiences (progress and challenges), attitude/character development and what the parents can help their child improve.

8) Do refer to the Year Heads if you need further clarity and guidance.
