Unit 10 Overview:
In this unit, students will understand division as it relates to multiplication. They will fluently multiply and divide within 100 using strategies and properties. Students are expected to know from memory all of the one-digit multiplication facts. Students will also identify patterns within the number system, and will solve two-step word problems using all four operations.
- Students understand division as an unknown factor problem (both factors are greater than 5 and less than or equal to 10). (OA.B.6)
- Students will fluently multiply and divide within 100, using strategies such as the relationship between multiplication and division or properties of operations and by the end of Grade 3, know from memory all products of two one-digit numbers. (OA.C.7)
- Students will solve two-step word problems using the four operations, represent these problems using equations with a letter standing for the unknown quantity, and assess the reasonableness of answers using mental computation and estimation strategies including rounding. (OA.D.8)
- Students will identify arithmetic patterns (including patterns in the addition table or multiplication table), and explain them using properties of operations. (OA.D.9)
