Learning for Independence
Description
The Learning for Independence Program provides support for young adults with disabilities (18-21 yrs) in CESA 7 school districts who benefit from Special Education Services beyond high school as part of a transition plan developed by their IEP team. The community college environment provides an age appropriate setting for these young adults to attend classes, improve social and communication skills, build friendships, identify and create a plan for post-secondary goals, increase workplace readiness skills and acquire self-determinations skills. Local school districts contract for student participation in the program, while the student maintains enrollment in their home district.
