Resilience is not only for students. All of us face adversity. The ability to bounce back with new learning and strength can make a difference for our school communities. Each of us has a path to reaching our full potential. Dr. Waldron-Kuhn is a trainer in the Compassion Fatigue and Resilience Model from Rogers Behavioral Health.

Providing professional development and facilitated planning opportunities to build capacity on the concepts of resilience and compassion fatigue, and the impact of stress, burnout, and compassion fatigue on the education environment; how to identify signs and symptoms of compassion fatigue; and included concrete steps for developing a professional self-care plan.

Compassion resilience for those in the education field is:
The ability to maintain our physical, emotional and mental well-being (using energy productively) while compassionately identifying and addressing the stressors that are barriers to learning for students,
Identifying and addressing the barriers to caregivers/ parents and colleagues being able to effectively partner on behalf of children, and
Identifying, preventing, and minimizing compassion fatigue within ourselves
