Primary Products and Services

  • Early education and family development programming for children and families prenatal through age 5 in classroom and home-based settings

  • Developmental, hearing/vision, and dental screenings with follow-up services for children based on individually identified needs

  • Head Start is also a community 4K provider in partnership with local schools

  • Family support through direct services, community referrals, and advocacy is based on individualized needs and interests of families related to housing, employment, education, health, and general family well-being

Primary Stakeholders

  • Low-income families with children 0-5 and pregnant women. Priority: Families with incomes at or below the federal poverty guidelines

  • Homeless families

  • Children in foster care

  • Children with special needs

  • School districts in Manitowoc County and the following school districts in Brown County: Ashwaubenon, Howard-Suamico, and De Pere

Networks

  • Policy Council is composed of current Head Start parents, community representatives, and a CESA 7 Board of Control representative.

Priorities

  • Working in partnership with families to provide early education experiences designed to prepare the child for success in kindergarten and future school years

  • Center based and home based programming for children ages 3-5 emphasizing literacy, math/science, social-emotional development, health/wellness checks, and family involvement

  • Home based services for families of infants and toddlers with emphasis on supporting parents in helping to increase their child's developmental skills

  • Prenatal education and support through home based services

  • Opportunities for parents to learn new ideas and skills that will benefit the development of their child and family
