Welcome to second grade! I am so happy your child is in my class! We have so many exciting things planned this year, and I can't wait to learn, laugh, and grow together.
My name is Johanna Townley, but everyone calls me Jo! This is my sixth year teaching and my third year in Celina ISD. I previously taught in a Dual Language classroom, and this year I'll be teaching in a monolingual classroom for the first time. I'm excited for this new adventure and can't wait to get to know all of my students and their families!
I graduated from Stephen F. Austin State University with a degree in Interdisciplinary Studies, specializing in Early Childhood Education. Teaching has always been my dream, and I truly love helping students discover just how capable they are. Watching them grow academically, socially, and personally throughout the year is my favorite part of being a teacher. My goal is to create a classroom where every child feels safe, supported, and excited to come to school each day.
Outside of school, I love spending time with my boyfriend and our three fur babies—Dolly, Fitz, and Kissy. They definitely keep us entertained! If I'm not with them, I'm probably curled up with a good book or catching up on one of my favorite TV shows. Fun fact: we recently became Celina locals, and we've loved getting to know this community. It's easy to see why so many people are proud to call Celina home!
I know second grade is going to be an exciting year full of growth, new adventures, and lots of memories.
Thank you for trusting me with your child. I'm looking forward to partnering with you to help make this a wonderful school year.
Go Bobcats! 🐾🧡
¡Bienvenidos a segundo grado!
¡Vamos, Bobcats! 🐾 🧡
I can't wait to meet you! When preparing school supplies, please bring them as bought, as they will be placed in bins and used throughout the school year as we need them! For items like headphones, notebooks, folders, and their pencil box, you may label them!
This year our class will be using the Remind App to help us stay in constant communication. Please follow the instructions to join our class Click here to join our Remind 101
BIRTHDAYS
We love to celebrate birthdays! If you'd like to provide the class with treats, please email me prior, as this will allow me to check for any allergies beforehand. Please send one treat per student and drop them off at the front office!
Please check your child's Bobcat folder weekly. This will be where notes, graded work, event flyers, and other information will be sent home on Thursday. These folders will be returned on Friday.
CLASS DAILY SCHEDULE
CLASS DAILY SCHEDULE...more info
Our students attend a different specials class each day for 50 minutes. Students need to wear sneakers every day to safely participate in P.E. or bring them to change into.
Lunch money may be added to your child's lunch account online on the School Cafe site. Create a School Cafe account here.
Snack: Please provide a healthy, dry snack for your child to eat in class during snack time and a flip top/straw water bottle that can be easily refilled. No screw top bottles please. ⚠️ Allergy Reminder: We have friends in our classroom with severe peanut and egg allergies. Please talk with your child about the importance of not sharing food or snacks at school. If possible, we also encourage families to avoid sending snacks that contain peanuts or eggs. Thank you for helping us keep our classroom safe for everyone! 🧡
Weather Appropriate Weather: Please make sure your child is dressed for the weather and their specials for that day.
Change of clothes: If possible, please send a plastic bag with an extra set of clothes in your child's backpack in case they have an accident at school or get dirty and need to change. Label the bag with your child's first and last name. Please make sure to swap out the clothes to fit the changing weather.
If your child tends to get cold, send them with a light jacket they can wear in the classroom as needed.
