School Attendance

Daily Attendance

Attendance is taken at the start of each day. Students who arrive after 10 A.M. or leave school before 10 A.M. will be marked absent. The district motto is “all day, every day, the Celina way!"

Tardies

Students who arrive after 7:45 A.M. will be marked tardy. Tardies and checking out early without cause count against perfect attendance.

Excused Absences

Information on Celina ISD's attendance policy can be found online at:

https://www.celinaisd.com/o/cisd/page/attendance-truancy

Only absences due to illness, doctor's appointments, family emergencies, or other state approved reasons will be counted as an excused absence.  Please note: parents are only allowed 5 parent notes to excuse an absence during the school year.

We are encouraging all parents to use Skyward Family Access to report absences. . When your student is absent, please follow "REPORTING ABSENCES" directions below to report an absence in Skyward Family Access.

Please email doctor's notes or questions to:  lykinsattendance@celinaisd.com

Reporting Absences

Truancy Letters

Attendance notices are automatically generated by our attendance system after your child's 3rd absence and then again on the 8th absence. These notices are legal notices required to be mailed home even if all the absences are excused.  The Texas Education Agency requires 90% attendance to earn credit and be promoted to the next grade.  Receiving these notices is not an indication of retention or that your emails/notes were not received by the school. Feel free to call or email Mrs. Kathy Singler at kathrynsingler@celinaisd.com if you think there is a discrepancy in days marked absent.

Truancy letters are also generated for excessive tardies and excessive times of checking out early without cause. Please remember that late arrivals cause your child to miss important beginning of the day procedures.

If your child accumulates 10 or more unexcused absences you may be required to attend truancy court.
