Welcome to our Class!

Hello, my name is Erik Velasquez. I graduated from  UT- Arlington in 2014 with a double bachelor’s degree in History and Journalism.  I am blessed to call Amy Velasquez my wife. Together we have four beautiful children, Molly, Jacob, Anneliese, and GrahamWe have lived in Celina for three years and this will be my 5th year teaching at Lykins Elementary.

I enjoy spending time with my family, watching our kids play sports, listening to podcasts or audiobooks, and doing anything related to technology.

Teaching provides me with joys I never anticipated. Getting to know each one of my students and their families is always a treat. I truly care and cherish each student for what makes them unique.

meet the teacher

Meet the Teacher will be on Monday, August 14th.

What to do before Meet The Teacher:

Planners/ Folder

Please check your child's planner each day. This will be where behavior notes, daily notes, class work, and other information will be sent home.

Weekly Bobcat folders with graded school work will come home each Thursday.  Please return on Fridays.

CLASS DAILY SCHEDULE

Snacks: Students may bring a snack.  Make sure the snack does not require a spoon or is in liquid form.  Examples of appropriate snacks are Cheezits, goldfish, and pretzels.

Birthdays: You may drop off a store bought treat in the office.  We will celebrate at the end of the day.  Please check with me on class size as it changes throughout the year.

Homework: Regular homework will not be sent home at this time.  Things you can do at home to help support your child are reading each night, practicing math facts using flashcards or online apps, or any CISD approved websites.

Breakfast and Lunch: Unfortunately, breakfast and lunch are not free this year.  You will need to add funds to your child's ‘My School Bucks’ account.

Specials: Specials are on a six day rotation.  There is not a set day for each special.  Please make sure students wear tennis shoes on PE days.

Volunteers: All volunteers will need a completed background check. Click the link below.
