Welcome to Lykins Elementary! My name is Kristi Edwards. This is my 23rd year to teach and I am currently teaching 1st grade. Things are never dull in a 1st grade classroom. I LOVE it! My husband of 32 years, Brett, and I have four kids and have been blessed with two wonderful son-in-laws! Our oldest, Lauren, has our first grandchild, Quenton, and he is 2 years old! I LOVE being KiKi to him! Our second oldest, Katelynn, is 27 and lives in Austin with her husband, Joe. We also have a Freshman in college, Cameron, at Oklahoma State University and a Sohpomore in college, Susan, at Southeaster Oklahoma State University. I love spending time with my family! I look forward to meeting my "firsties" this year and I am sure you are going to love it here at Lykins Elementary! It's going to be a fantastic year!
What to do before Meet The Teacher:
Please bring all of the supplies on our 1st grade list. No need to label anything as we will be labeling them the first day. You will be sorting them with your child at meet the teacher.
MY COMMUNICATION WITH YOU WILL BE VIA EMAIL. I WILL SEND A WEEKLY EMAIL/NEWSLETTER DIGITALLY EVERY MONDAY.
Please check your child's orange folder each day. This will be where notes, high frequency word lists, reading log and other information will be sent home. This is also where you will send notes to school. Your child needs to bring their orange folder to school every day.
SPECIALS CLASSES
Our students attend a different specials class each day. Students need to wear sneakers every day to safely participate in P.E. or bring them to change into. I have placed a list of our schedule classes inside your child's orange folder. Please see the weekly newsletter sent via email on Mondays to know what day it is. This year our students will attend specials classes with their house team.
SNACK TIME
Please provide a healthy dry snack for your child to eat in class during snack time and a flip top/straw water bottle that can be easily refilled. No screw top bottles please. If you would like to send in a snack for those that forget theirs, that would be great! Some examples are: goldfish, cheezits, pretzels, and dry cereal. No peanuts please!
As our dining services have expanded, so has our system to better serve our Bobcats. This is so all Bobcats who wish to buy their lunch daily or occasionally, may create an account . Additionally, families who qualify for free or reduced meal programs, may indicate that need by filling out the confidential forms. If you qualified last school year, you must fill out the information once again for the 2025-2026 school year. For any Bobcat who had a balance in the My School Bucks system, those funds have been rolled over to the new school year. Your balance should be available when you login.
Please keep a Ziplock back of extra clothes in your child's backpack in case they have an accident at school or get dirty and need to change. Label the bag with your child's first and last name. Please make sure to swap out the clothes to fit the changing weather.
