Welcome to our Class!

Welcome to Lykins Elementary!  My name is Kristi Edwards.  This is my 22nd year to teach and I am currently teaching 1st grade.  Things are never dull in a 1st grade classroom.  I LOVE it!  My husband of 30 years, Brett, and I have four kids and have been blessed with two wonderful son-in-laws!  In June, our oldest, Lauren, had our first grandchild, Quenton!  I LOVE being KiKi to him! Our second oldest, Katelynn, is 25 and lives in Chicago where her husband is attending law school.  We also have a Junior, Cameron, and a Senior, Susan at Celina High School.  I  love spending time with my family!  I look forward to meeting my "firsties" this year and I am sure you are going to love it here at Lykins Elementary!  It's going to be a fantastic year!

meet the teacher

Meet the Teacher will be on Monday, August 14th.

What to do before Meet The Teacher:

Please bring all of the supplies on our 1st grade list.  No need to label anything as we will be labeling them the first day.  You will be sorting them with your child at meet the teacher.

This year our class will be using the Seesaw app.  This will be a way for the students to share their work with parents.  You can go ahead and download the Seesaw app.  Please be on the lookout for  future instructions to get connected.

MORE INFO ON THIS TO COME.

MY COMMUNICATION WITH YOU WILL BE VIA EMAIL.  I WILL SEND A WEEKLY EMAIL/NEWSLETTER DIGITALLY EVERY MONDAY.

Daily Folders

Please check your child's folder each day. This will be where notes, high frequency word lists, reading log and other information will be sent home. This is also where you will send notes to school.  Your child needs to bring their orange folder to school every day.

As our dining services have expanded, so has our system to better serve our Bobcats. This is a new system so all Bobcats who wish to buy their lunch daily or occasionally, must create an account beginning August 1. Additionally, families who qualify for free or reduced meal programs, may indicate that need by filling out the confidential forms. For any Bobcat who had a balance in the My School Bucks system, those funds have been rolled over to the new system. Your balance should be available when you create an account and login.

Please note that students may also purchase snacks and ice cream, as you may want to discuss appropriate charging limits.  Parents must sign up on the Lykins Links SignUpGenius prior to eating with their student at school (due to limited seating).  If you are interested in volunteering for lunch duty, please reach out with dates available at any point during the school year!

SPECIALS CLASSES

Our students attend a different specials class each day.  Students need to wear sneakers every day to safely participate in P.E. or bring them to change into.  I have placed a list of our schedule classes inside your child's orange folder.  Please see the weekly newsletter sent via email on Mondays to know what day it is.

SNACK TIME

Please provide a healthy dry snack for your child to eat in class during snack time and a flip top/straw water bottle that can be easily refilled.  No screw top bottles please.

Change of Clothes

Please keep a Ziplock back of extra clothes in your child's backpack in case they have an accident at school or get dirty and need to change. Label the bag with your child's first and last name. Please make sure to swap out the clothes to fit the changing weather.
