Howdy Bobcats! I am so blessed to be part of the Lykins Elementary team, teaching reading/language arts/social studies to 4th graders for the 9th year! I have also spent time as a grade level aid, preschool music and Spanish teacher, and professional meeting planner. My teaching partner is Mr. Lewis (math/science).
My family moved to Celina in 2006, so this has been “home” for twenty years. My husband, Chad, and I are both proud native Texans and Texas A&M Aggies (Whoop! '95) - and just celebrated our 30th anniversary in July. We have three boys - Cade, 26; Brock, 23; and Holt, 20 (all three came through THIS school in elementary!). In my free time I love reading historical fiction, gardening, playing Mahjong and spending lots of time with my family.
Thank you for partnering with me to support this amazing class - the last year at Lykins! It is going to be a fantastic fourth grade year!

Each week Mrs. Hawkins sends a "Lykins Links" newsletter out via email to our campus' parents. You will also find a weekly link on our facebook page and section of the CISD website. This newsletter is THE best source of information for you! Current events/calendars, policies/procedures for reporting absences, sign ups for visitors, menus, extra extension activities/groups, counselor news, and more are addressed. The grade level newsletters are linked each week at the bottom - so you can get specifics on what our students are doing in 4G. In addition, I send the same personalized 4G newsletter inside my weekly email, along with specifics for our class and rotation.
Meet the Teacher on Monday, August 10th.
What to do before Meet The Teacher:
Please label the following items with your child's name: scissors, pencil pouch, headphones. We will sort and label the rest on Wednesday!
The best way to contact me is via email. Please allow up to 24 hours for a response. All changes in dismissal need to be communicated through the office if they occur after our lunch time (1:00 pm), or if you don't hear back from me by 2:00 pm.
We will be sending home ‘Thursday Folders’ each week. Please check these folders for notes from the office, scored work, and any other communication.
Mrs. Hawkins sends out a weekly ‘Lykins Links’ newsletter through email (and also on our facebook page). This will be current information on all things Lykins Elementary (mentioned above).
This Parent Guide is an all inclusive, one stop resource for parents. Check it out - click the "Home" button at the bottom of this page, then scroll down to find answers to questions you may have on specific topics!
This year our class will be using the GroupMe app for any last minute reminders and messages. This will be another way for me to communicate with parents, in addition to emails and our weekly Newsletter. Please use this link or the QR code above to join our class.
Daily Class Information
Snacks: Students may bring a snack each day. The snack should not require a spoon or be in liquid form, and easy to eat. Examples of suggested snacks are Cheezits, goldfish, granola bars, and pretzels. No candy/sugar please. Students may eat during morning meeting/WIN or save for dismissal time. Water bottles should contain only water. Thank you!
Birthdays: You may drop off store bought treats in the office. We will celebrate at the end of the day. Plan for 24 students.
Homework: Regular homework is not sent home. Things you can do at home to help support your child are reading each night, practicing math facts using flashcards or online apps, or CISD approved websites.
Breakfast and Lunch: Served daily at 7:20 and 1:00. You will need to add funds to student ‘School Cafe’ account (link below). Please note that students may also purchase snacks and ice cream, as you may want to discuss appropriate charging limits. Parents may eat with their child and one friend, but we ask that you refrain from taking photos while in the cafe. If you are interested in volunteering for lunch duty, please reach out with dates available at any point during the school year!
Specials:
Specials are on a six day rotation. Please make sure students wear tennis shoes on PE days (Days 2/4/6 for our class), or stash a pair in their backpack for easy changing. We will send you a master list at Meet the Teacher! *You may also want to pack a labeled ziplock with change of clothes as a "just in case"!
Every year our Lost & Found is more "lost" and less "found"!
Please help students keep up with belongings by labeling items
such as water bottles, lunch boxes, jackets/hoodies, etc.

Create an account on School Cafe
All Bobcats who wish to buy their lunch daily/ occasionally, or purchase snacks/ice cream should create a School Cafe account. Additionally, families who qualify for free or reduced meal programs, may indicate that need by filling out the confidential forms. Balances on School Cafe will follow your student across any campus in CISD.
Complete the Volunteer Background Check
This must be completed at the beginning of every school year, and allows you to volunteer for CISD/PTA.
