Hello Bobcats! I am beyond thrilled to be back teaching 4th Grade Math and Science at Lykins. This will be my fifth year at Lykins. My teaching partner this year is Mrs. Schramme. We are looking forward to a fun year of learning.
I grew up in Pennsylvania, near Philadelphia, so yes, I love my Philadelphia teams (Superbowl Champions). I graduated from West Chester University with my degree in Special Education and went on to get my Elementary Certification from Holy Family University. My husband, Mani and I have been married for 21 years. We have three wonderful children, Mya (19), Cole (18) and Mason (10) and our Golden Doodle, Bella.
Meet the Teacher will be on Monday, August 11th.
What to do before Meet The Teacher:
Please label the following items with your child's name: scissors, pencil pouch, composition books, headphones, folders.
Each week Mrs. Hawkins sends a "Lykins Links" newsletter out via email to our campus' parents. You will also find a weekly link on our facebook page. This newsletter is THE best source of information for you! Current events/calendars, policies/procedures for reporting absences, sign ups for visitors, menus, extra extension activities/groups, counselor news, and more are addressed. The grade level newsletters are linked each week - so you can get specifics on what our student(s) are doing in 4G. In addition, I send a personalized newsletter inside my weekly email so you know details for our class/rotation.
The best way to contact me is through my email. Please allow for 24 hours to respond. All changes in dismissal need to be communicated through the office as well as the teacher.
On Thursdays we will be sending home ‘Thursday Folders’. Please check these folders for notes from the office, graded work, and any other communication.
Mrs. Hawkins sends out a weekly ‘Smores’ newsletter through email. This will be information on all things Lykins Elementary.
The Parent Guide is an all inclusive, one stop resource for parents. Check it out!
Class Dojo
This year our class will be using the ClassDojo App. This will be another way for me to communicate with parents, in addition to emails and our weekly Newsletter. Please download the ClassDojo app before August 12th.
CLASS DAILY INFORMATION
Snacks: Students may bring a snack. Make sure the snack does not require a spoon or is in liquid form. Examples of appropriate snacks are Cheezits, goldfish, and pretzels. No candy allowed.
Birthdays: You may drop off a store bought treat in the office. We will celebrate at the end of the day. Please check with me on class size as it changes throughout the year. It's also very helpful if the treats are all the same flavor, but you certainly do not have to do that.
Homework: Regular homework is not sent home each week. Things you can do at home to help support your child are reading each night, practicing math facts using flashcards or online apps, or CISD approved websites.
Breakfast and Lunch: Unfortunately, breakfast and lunch are not free this year. You will need to add funds to their ‘My School Bucks’ account.
Specials: Specials are on a six day rotation. This year, your child will go to specials with their house color, not homeroom.

Create a School Cafe
As our dining services have expanded, so has our system to better serve our Bobcats. This is a new system so all Bobcats who wish to buy their lunch daily or occasionally, must create an account beginning August 1. Additionally, families who qualify for free or reduced meal programs, may indicate that need by filling out the confidential forms. For any Bobcat who had a balance in the My School Bucks system, those funds have been rolled over to the new system. Your balance should be available when you create an account and login.
