Welcome to our Class!
Hey Bobcats! I am so excited to join the lykins family as your 4th grade social studies, science, and writing teacher this year.  This will be my 11th year teaching and I'm thrilled to be back in such a fun grade. I grew up in arlington, texas and was a bobcat myself in elementary. after high school, i moved to my parent's hometown of wichita falls and graduated from midwestern state university. charlie, my husband, and i have lived in the north dallas/plano area these last 9 years and just moved to celina this past june.  We have two incredible kiddos named Harper (8) and Hunter (4) and we are so excited to raise them in this great community.

Meet your teachers Monday, August 14th!

Let's Connect

Each week Mrs. Hawkins sends a "Lykins Links" newsletter out via email to our campus' parents.  You will also find a weekly link on our facebook page.  This newsletter is THE best source of information for you!  Current events/calendars, policies/procedures for reporting absences, sign ups for visitors, menus, extra extension activities/groups, counselor news, and more are addressed. The grade level newsletters are linked each week - so you can get specifics on what our student(s) are doing. In addition, I send a personalized newsletter inside my weekly email so you know details for our class/rotation.

CLASS DAILY SCHEDULE

Snacks: Students may bring a snack each day.  The snack should not require a spoon or be in liquid form, and easy to eat.  Examples of suggested snacks are Cheezits, goldfish, granola bars, and pretzels.  No candy/sugar please.  Students may eat during morning meeting/WIN or save for dismissal time. Water bottles should contain only water.

Birthdays: You may drop off store bought treats in the office.  We will celebrate at the end of the day.  Please check with me on class size as it changes throughout the year.

Homework: Regular homework is not sent home.  Things you can do at home to help support your child are reading each night, practicing math facts using flashcards or online apps, or CISD approved websites.

Breakfast and Lunch: Served daily at 7:20 and 12:30. You will need to add funds to student ‘School Cafe’ account (link below - formerly 'My School Bucks').  Please note that students may also purchase snacks and ice cream, as you may want to discuss appropriate charging limits.  Parents must sign up on the Lykins Links SignUpGenius prior to eating with their student at school (due to limited seating).  If you are interested in volunteering for lunch duty, please reach out with dates available at any point during the school year!

Specials: Specials are on a seven day rotation. Please make sure students wear tennis shoes on PE days, or stash a pair in their backpack for easy changing.  *You may also want to pack a labeled ziplock with change of clothes as a "just in case"!
