Welcome to our Class!
Hello! My name is Amber Arnold. This year will begin my 16th year of teaching in Celina. I grew up in Celina and love being a Bobcat! I have previously taught 3rd, 4th, and 5th grade Math and Science as well as Math Intervention for 2nd-5th graders. I have 3 kids that keep me busy and on the go daily (Madison 10th grade, Mackenzie 6th grade, and Maddox 4th grade). In my spare time I enjoying exercising and shopping. I can’t imagine a better place to live, work, and raise a family than in Celina. I am looking forward to a year of fun, learning, and growing!
meet the teacher
Meet the Teacher will be on Monday, August 14th.
We look forward to meeting you.
Communication
The best way to contact me is via email. Please allow up to 24 hours for response. All changes in dismissal need to be communicated through the office if they occur after our conference time (8:40-9:30), or if you don't hear back from me by 3pm.
We will be sending home ‘Thursday Folders’ each week. Please check these folders for notes from the office, graded work, and any other communication.
Students also have a 'Daily Folder', which travels with them and contains class planners/"to do" lists, unfinished work or work in progress.
Mrs. Hawkins sends out a weekly ‘Lykins Links’ newsletter through email (and also on our facebook page). This will be current information on all things Lykins Elementary.
The Parent Guide is an all inclusive, one stop resource for parents. Check it out - click the "Home" button at the bottom of this page, then scroll down to find answers to questions you may have on specific topics!

Daily Class Information
Snacks: Students may bring a snack each day. The snack should not require a spoon or be in liquid form, and easy to eat. Examples of suggested snacks are Cheezits, goldfish, granola bars, and pretzels. No candy/sugar please. Students may eat during morning meeting/WIN or save for dismissal time. Water bottles should contain only water.
Birthdays: You may drop off store bought treats in the office. We will celebrate at the end of the day. Please check with me on class size as it changes throughout the year.
Homework: Regular homework is not sent home. Things you can do at home to help support your child are reading each night, practicing math facts using flashcards or online apps, or CISD approved websites.
Breakfast and Lunch: Served daily at 7:20 and 12:30. You will need to add funds to student ‘School Cafe’ account (link below - formerly 'My School Bucks'). Please note that students may also purchase snacks and ice cream, as you may want to discuss appropriate charging limits. Parents must sign up on the Lykins Links SignUpGenius prior to eating with their student at school (due to limited seating). If you are interested in volunteering for lunch duty, please reach out with dates available at any point during the school year!
Specials: Specials are on a seven day rotation. Please make sure students wear tennis shoes on PE days, or stash a pair in their backpack for easy changing. *You may also want to pack a labeled ziplock with change of clothes as a "just in case"!
LOST AND FOUND
Every year our Lost & Found is more "lost" and less "found"! Help students keep up with belongings by labeling items such as water bottles, lunch boxes, jackets/hoodies, etc.

THINGS TO DO
Create a School Cafe
As our dining services have expanded, so has our system to better serve our Bobcats. This is a new system so all Bobcats who wish to buy their lunch daily or occasionally, must create an account beginning August 1. Additionally, families who qualify for free or reduced meal programs, may indicate that need by filling out the confidential forms. For any Bobcat who had a balance in the My School Bucks system, those funds have been rolled over to the new system. Your balance should be available when you create an account and login.
Complete the Volunteer Background Check
This must be completed at the beginning of every school year, and allows you to volunteer for CISD.
